OUR STORY

Creating History in Copper

2017 · The Beginning

Where It Began

Copper Age began in Ukraine in 2017, not as a gift shop, but as a workshop working with copper on a much larger scale.

We created custom copper range hoods, sinks, mirrors, outdoor lighting, signs for shops and restaurants, and decorative elements for commercial interiors. Many projects were designed and made individually, requiring metal forming, hammering, finishing, patination, and careful hand assembly.

Working on these larger pieces taught us something that still defines Copper Age today: copper is more than a material. It changes with time, carries the marks of the hands that shaped it, and gives every finished piece its own character.

BEYOND THE ORDINARY

Crafting Beyond the Ordinary

From the beginning, our work was never limited to one type of product.

Alongside architectural copper pieces, we created one-of-a-kind objects — decorative chests, sculptural pieces, custom signs, lighting, wall decor, and other designs made for individual homes and businesses.

Some projects started with a drawing, others with nothing more than an idea. Each one required a different approach: shaping sheet metal, engraving, hammering, soldering, creating textures, applying patina, and often solving construction details along the way.

This variety became an important part of our experience. It taught us how to turn copper into both functional objects and meaningful decorative pieces — a skill that would later shape the smaller handcrafted gifts we make today.

2020–2022 · A NEW DIRECTION

From Large Objects to Meaningful Keepsakes

For several years, most of our work was created for homes, restaurants, and businesses in Ukraine. Then the world changed.

During the pandemic, demand for large custom projects began to slow, and we started looking for something smaller — objects that could still carry the character of handmade copper, but could also travel easily to customers abroad.

Our first experiments included copper roses, horseshoes, hearts, and photo frames. Each was very different from the large architectural pieces we had made before, but the same skills remained behind them: shaping metal by hand, engraving, finishing, and working with the natural character of copper.

In 2022, the Ukrainian market for large decorative projects nearly disappeared. What had started as a new direction became the future of our workshop.

We gradually narrowed a wide range of ideas to the pieces that connected most strongly with people — especially copper roses and horseshoes, made to mark anniversaries, weddings, and other meaningful moments.

Turning Craft into a Collection

Moving to smaller pieces opened a completely new chapter for Copper Age, but it also brought a new challenge.

We experimented with many different products, and each one required its own tools, production process, finishing, packaging, and preparation for shipping. For a small workshop, maintaining such a wide range was difficult.

Over time, we began to focus on the pieces that customers connected with most strongly — especially copper roses and horseshoes.

These objects had something in common. They were not simply decorative pieces. They were often chosen to mark anniversaries, weddings, important dates, and personal milestones.

Focusing on a smaller collection allowed us to refine every detail: the shape of the metal, engraving, finishes, presentation, and the way each piece is prepared for its journey from Ukraine to customers around the world.

What began as a necessary change gradually became the identity of Copper Age today — meaningful metal objects designed to last and to carry a story of their own.

COPPER AGE TODAY

Creating History in Copper

Today, Copper Age is a small workshop in Ukraine creating handcrafted copper and bronze pieces made to mark meaningful moments. Our work has changed greatly since 2017, but the idea behind it has remained the same: create objects with character, made from real metal and made to last.

Made by Hand

Each piece is individually shaped, finished, and prepared by hand. Small variations in texture and tone are part of the character of handmade metalwork.

Made to Mean Something

Many of our pieces are created for anniversaries, weddings, personal milestones, and other moments worth remembering. Custom engraving makes them even more personal.

Made to Last

Copper does not remain unchanged. It develops its own tone and character over time, allowing every piece to carry the marks of its own history.

From large architectural copperwork to the small keepsakes we make today, every stage of our journey has shaped the way we work. We continue to create slowly, carefully, and with respect for the material — one piece at a time, here in Ukraine.
